01

Start with a real diagnosis

The symptom does not always identify the failed part. A machine that will not start, for example, could have a simple connection problem or a more involved control failure. A diagnosis lets you compare actual options instead of assuming the worst.

02

Consider the whole appliance

A dependable, well-kept machine may be worth repairing even when it is not new. Repeated failures or significant damage can shift the answer toward replacement.

  • How old is it, and has it needed repeated repairs?
  • Are the cabinet, tub, racks, seals, and other major parts in good condition?
  • Is the correct replacement part available at a reasonable cost?
  • Does the appliance still fit your household’s needs?
03

Compare more than the price tag

Include delivery, installation, removal, new connections, and any cabinet or utility changes in the replacement cost. For repair, consider the diagnosis, part and labor cost, likely remaining life, and whether other known problems are present.

04

Ask for a clear recommendation

A good technician should explain what failed, what the repair involves, and any reason the work may not be a sensible investment. At Rice City, the goal is to give you enough information to make the choice that works for your home.
