01

Confirm power and settings

Check that the interior light or control panel works and that the cooling control was not accidentally changed. If the outlet, plug, or cord looks damaged, do not touch or test it—have the electrical problem handled safely.

02

Make sure the doors seal

A door left slightly open lets warm, humid air enter and may lead to frost or long run times.

  • Remove packages that prevent the door from closing.
  • Wipe crumbs or residue from the gasket with the care method in your owner’s manual.
  • Look for a torn, loose, or badly deformed gasket.
03

Check airflow inside and around the unit

Avoid packing food directly against interior air vents. Make sure the refrigerator has the clearance required by its installation instructions. If the manual provides an owner-safe condenser cleaning procedure, follow it only after disconnecting power as directed.

04

What to tell the technician

Note whether the freezer is also warm, whether fans or the compressor can be heard, whether frost is building up, and when the temperature problem began. These details help narrow the diagnosis without guessing at parts.
